Basically what happened was that I made the first Estella mix before I read the last few chapters, assuming Estella had made her last appearance (...I'M SO SMART. S-M-R-T, SMART), and then the last chapter made my brain explode in a violent frenzy of JOY AND CRAZY. This is a Pip-POV mix that goes through the entire novel because somewhere along the way I found myself inexplicably shipping Pip/Estella. I tried to keep the tone of this soft and optimistic, for the most part, because Pip's more romantic than your average 13-year old girl, and also I'm a big sap who likes to pretend they ran off and got married after the delightfully ambiguous ending. So, the combination of real life and college apps and fandom is more or less stealing all my sleep hours, so until I get my Columbia University early decision application all sorted I am dropping all my TV shows and abandoning most of my online haunts. I think I'm going to hold off on updating my journal (although you can count on the occaisonal fanmix popping up because I am insatiable) or reading my f-list because it takes up a huge chunk of time, so I am...pretty much dropping off the face of LJ. Guys, I never do Merlin RPS recs. So, this week's episode of The Vampire Diaries was...legitimately good (although there was no crazy fog machine action! WHY WOULD YOU GIVE US SOMETHING SO AWESOMELY LOLARIOUS AND THEN TAKE IT AWAY, SHOW? WHY?). THE HELL? I mean, there were still moments where I was like, "Oh show, you're ridiculous and I love you," but most of the time my brain was like, "THIS IS FUCKING AWESOME, WHO IS WRITING THIS SHIT?" Also, I love the episode titles for this show, they're so lame-but-cute!

I think Ginny loves Harry, but Harry doesn't love Ginny so much as the idea of Ginny, someone warm and bright and lovely to hope for when the War is over. They don't know each other very well and they marry early, sailing on a high of youthful infatuation. I've always thought the glimpse JKR painted of their marriage was highly unrealistic, so here's another way it could have gone. Enjoy.

The second episode of The Vampire Diaries was just as magnificently lame as the first! PERHAPS EVEN MORE SO. I can't believe this is one of my favorite shows this year. I've sunk so low.

Notes: The Blacks - specifically the Bellatrix, Andromeda, Narcissa, Sirius, Regulus generation - are my favorite part of the Harry Potter series, and this mix was an interesting one to make. I don't know how well my ideas about this family came across (there's a lot of room to play with, what with so many things about their childhood and what they thought of each other before Voldemort came to power going unsaid), and I thought about attaching explanatory notes to each song, but decided against it. All of the songs on here can relate to more than one character because they all witness the fracturing of their familial bonds and they all react to it. To me, the Blacks are - or, more accurately, were once - a family first. I mean, the worst insult among Purebloods isn't "Mudblood" but "blood traitor". These are people who once loved each other, but got torn apart by fear, a madman's lust for power, and ideological differences. To the point where hate became so deeply ingrained in their bones that they could not remember that things were once different. Enjoy!

Right, so I finally finished the shitload of summer work I had to do and should really be in bed because I have to be up in four frigging hours for the first day of school, but for some reason ended up writing more Gossip Girl Goes To Hogwarts (the Yule Ball fic is about 50% done!
